Can you describe your company?
Working with both private and commercial clients, we provide a tailored commission service creating unique one-off pieces of designer furniture, designer lighting and homeware as well as interiors based on and around our clients' needs and specifications.
What inspired you to be an interior designer?
I've been creative from a very young age, one of my earliest memories was constantly changing the layout of my house when growing up much to my families dismay. I feel that being able to come back to a home that you feel relaxed comfortable and excited about makes a huge difference to someone's life and I love being a part of that transformation. I treat Interior design as another form of art. My canvas is the rooms and my paints the furniture and accessories.
If they were to make a toy action figure of you, what would your accessory be?
A magic golden brush to enable me to colour the world!
To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life within the design world has taken?
Back in 2005, we won best new designer at the Design & Decoration awards which put us on the map and set a trend for bringing old furniture back and really kicking off the up-cycling that you see everywhere now, something that we are really proud of. Being able to breathe new life into something that may have been forgotten still excites us. We are constantly evolving and taking inspiration from our everyday life and experiences which we embody into our designs in both our furniture and interiors.
What would be your dream interior project?
I would love to work on a cool boutique hotel, where all the rooms had their own personality and no room was the same. Something to take your breath away no matter what room you stayed in.
What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
I value the personal relationship with my clients. They are not just buying into a scheme. A lot of my clients are now my friends and I feel you really need to get to know someone to be able to deliver a project you can both be proud of. I love to inject colour and life to space and am not afraid of breaking rules and putting colours and patterns together that shouldn't work.
If you could go back in time and speak to your adolescent self, what advice would you give them about the design world?
Make sure to build up your base with great people and are prepared for your company to grow. Without the right team, you can't evolve.
