In Conversation with Clare Holland Interior Creations
Clare Holland is the founder of Midlands-based interior design consultancy - Clare Holland Interior Creations. Currently, our design team comprises six fully qualified and experienced residential and commercial interior designers.
Clare Holland Interior Creations offers an unrivalled client experience. Creating detail-driven interior solutions, combining our collaborative interiors passion, craftsmanship, functionality, comfort and luxury. Resulting in visually exciting interiors in an extremely efficient, harmonious and cost-effective way. Our ultimate goal is to create design solutions which maximise the full potential of our clients’ homes.
What inspired you to be an interior designer?
Over the years my creative passion has intensified, particularly since my journey commenced on the property ladder. I found I enjoyed transforming rooms into attractive, functional and comfortable spaces. This journey developed over time, successfully creating fabulous harmonious interiors for family and friends, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I, therefore, decided to take the plunge, acquire professional qualifications and form my own interior design business.
If they were to make a toy action figure of you, what would your accessory be?
I have to say, I am truly obsessed with wallpaper and fabric designs. I adore perusing wallpaper and fabric sample books. A few of my many favourites are; Anthology, Black Edition and Romo. Therefore my accessory would be a sample book.
To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life within the design world has taken?
I have controlled my progression through the design world fully, if not a little unexpectedly. From the time I qualified and then progressed to the set up of my business, I was expecting a slow build-up of my client base. However, the client enquiries came flooding in, which encouraged the expansion of my business, with the addition of further interior designers over the years. I now have a wonderfully creative team of qualified interior designers, receiving regular fantastic reviews from our much-appreciated clients.
What would be your dream interior project?
My dream interior project would be to design my own home from scratch and money no object. The property would be eco-friendly, incorporate the latest technology and the use of natural materials. Comfort and efficiency being the main priorities and of course be visually stunning. Making the time to ensure every detail is thoroughly thought through, to produce a timeless and beautiful long term home.
What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
I am extremely passionate about my business and client satisfaction. I oversee all my interior designer’s projects, working closely with my designers to ensure total satisfaction from our clients from design to completion. My interior designers always go above and beyond on all client projects, small or large as they are truly very passionate about their work.
If you could go back in time and speak to your adolescent self, what advice would you give them about the design world?
To gain plenty of experience before embarking on the set up of your own interior design practice. Be prepared for a great deal of hard work and the unexpected; also do your research thoroughly. There is a great deal of satisfaction in the interior design industry if you are passionate about this profession and are prepared to go that extra mile.
