In Conversation with Cinzia Moretti
Moretti Interior Design Ltd is a luxury interior design studio based in West London specialising in residential projects both in the UK and abroad, which believes that design is elevated through the incorporation of nature. The aim of each project is to express the unique client's personality. Through the use of colour psychology and environmental psychology techniques the clients go through a process, to improve their wellbeing and living their home better with all the 5 senses.
What inspired you to be an interior designer?
My passion for interiors definitely comes from my family. My grandfather was an architect and property developer. Since I was a child I used to beg him to take me on-site and see these beautiful houses, which were like a dream to my little girl's eyes. Also, I have a theatre background and I have always been inspired by theatre architecture and history.
If they were to make a toy action figure of you, what would your accessory be?
Ballet shoes and a movie clapperboard!
To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life within the design world has taken?
At 23 years old I bought my first house. I started to change everything, and I loved to see the transformation I could make. After a few months, someone offered to buy it. I then bought a bigger house and done the same. Therefore I decided to enrol in an interior design course and University. Got my first job straight after and never stopped…
What would be your dream interior project?
I would love to design a large Edwardian house, with beautiful historical architecture features, and also to incorporate a small private theatre inside for the client’s guests entertaining. Of course, a grand piano should be a must!
What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
Applying the colour psychology technique and knowledge to help the client to improve the lifestyle. Most people underestimate the power of colour if applied properly!
If you could go back in time and speak to your adolescent self, what advice would you give them about the design world?
Do not be afraid of difficulties that of course there are in this industry and travelling more to explore the different design cultures to increase the knowledge of other ways of living and interiors to widen your horizon.
