In Conversation with Interior Designer Fiona Andrews
London based interior designer, Fiona Andrews, launched her own company in 2003 specialising in residential interiors. For Fiona, attention to detail is key, and offers a complete interior design service from planning to completion - making sure all the final details are looked after.
"I enjoy collaborating with my clients to interpret their aspirations and establish what will work best for them, says Fiona. "Each project is different and it is important to me not to impose a look."
A passion for history of art, Fiona tends to combine both the classical and contemporary, to create a timeless home - making sure her clients personality comes through in each project she entails.
Below a short conversation with the Interior Designer, we know you will enjoy:
Hayche: What inspired you to be an interior designer?
FA: I had always been the child who rearranged her bedroom and poured over interiors magazines. I grew to love art and architecture and during my History of Art degree, we spent many months haunting the V&A museum looking at furniture. Combining this with a love of colour, bringing order to spaces and problem solving made me realise that becoming an interior designer was the right choice for me.
Hayche: If they were to make a toy action figure of you, what would your accessory be?
FA: A tape measure and my iPhone.
Hayche: To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life within the design world has taken?
FA: Not at all! I have been very lucky to have had great clients who have trusted me and recommended me to other people.
Hayche: What would be your dream interior project?
FA: I have yet to design a large house in the country and that would be a treat.
Hayche: What’s something you know you do differently than most people?
FA: I do not bring an ego to projects. I am there to listen and work with my clients to interpret what they want. I have also been told I am very calm.
Hayche: If you could go back in time and speak to your adolescent self, what advice would you give them about the design world?
FA: Trust your instincts and go for it!
