In Conversation with Elyse Young from Zenotti

What inspired you to be an interior designer?

I lived in Paris when I was 18 and I visited so many art galleries. So, I decided I needed to do something artistic, that’s how I enrolled at an interior design college

If they were to make a toy action figure of you, what would your accessory be?

Tape measure

 

To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life within the design world has taken?

My growth was quite organic really, I didn't have a major goal that I wanted to achieve, things happened which then propelled me into a world market

What would be your dream interior project?

Completely restoring a French 17th-century chateau, complete with all furnishings

 

What’s something you know you do differently than most people?

I allow my clients to have their say and taste in design, unlike some who impose their own style on the project, I am very flexible in style

If you could go back in time and speak to your adolescent self, what advice would you give them about the design world?

Don't be afraid to use colour and go with your gut instinct, it all comes right in the end
